Use a milk frother for the perfect cappuccino

By Carol Finch

If you like frothy drinks such as cappuccino then a milk frother is an absolute must in your kitchen. As you can imagine, this kind of device basically froths your milk into foam until it is ‘stiff’ enough to be poured on top of your coffee to make the perfect cup of cappuccino.

Your options here are fairly varied. Many automatic and manual coffee makers come with a frother for milk attached nowadays – especially if they are designed for espresso use in some way.

So, you can simply use the machine to make your coffee whilst you sort out your milk with the frother attachment at the side. But, this solution can be expensive and can take up quite a lot of worktop space.

If you like you can buy a compact frother as a stand-alone kitchen attachment as an alternative. Some frothers are basically like whisks so some hard work will be involved there to foam up your milk but some are battery powered or run on electricity.

Today’s machines are small and won’t take up very much space at all in your kitchen drawers so this could well be the best option for you. And, these stand-alone machines are extremely economical to buy – you may not, however, get great results with some brands so it will be worth checking review sites first to see what other consumers think before you buy a frother.

The advantage to using this kind of machine is that you can use them for all kinds of other stuff in and around the kitchen. For example, you can use a stand-alone frother to make milkshakes or to create the perfect cup of hot chocolate. These machines are real simple to use – you can just do your ‘frothing’ in the cup. And, most of the modern frother designs are streamlined so they are also easy to keep clean.
